Luffa

Luffa

Luffa, also known as loofah, is a tropical or subtropical vine in the gourd family brought to North America over 9,000 years ago.  It's native to Southern Asia and can be eaten like squash when young and tender or allowed to mature and used to make sponges.  Try frying the blossoms like those from squash plants.

Luffas are great producers and can produce up to 40 gourds per plant, up to 3 feet long each. Gourd vines are heavy and must be staked or trellised.

Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
