Long Purple Eggplant

Long Purple Eggplant

Although all eggplants have roots in Asia, the Long Purple eggplant is an Italian heirloom variety brought to the United States in the early 1900s. It is a long, slender, purple eggplant that can grow up to 9 inches long and 2 inches in diameter.  This variety is ideal for cooking because they have fewer seeds and thinner skin.

Eggplants benefit from companion planting, with some of their favorites being basil, borage, onions, calendula, rosemary, thyme sage, and marigolds to deter pests and improve flavor.

Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
