Jalapeño Pepper

Jalapeño Pepper

The Aztecs used jalapeños in many dishes and as a spice. Today, Mexico is still the largest producer of jalapeños, with around 70,000 acres of land dedicated to growing and cultivating them.  The name "jalapeno" is Spanish, meaning "from Xalapa", the capital city of Veracruz, Mexico where the pepper was traditionally cultivated.

High yields on this short, upright plant will keep producing until the first freeze. Peppers ripen from green to red. Perfect for salsa, chili oil, stuffed and grilled or roasted.  They're also great for drying, pickling, and for making sweet chili sauce - use them in everything! Peppers freeze well whole.

Interplant with basil, marigolds, calendula, onions, garlic, chives, thyme, rosemary, and oregano to improve flavor, increase harvest, repel harmful pests, and attract beneficial insects like bees and ladybugs.

Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
