Thousandhead Kale

Thousandhead Kale

Thousandhead is a mammoth-sized kale variety that remains tender even as the leaves grow to an astounding 3 feet long. This ancient variety from the U.K. was originally grown as a productive, multi-branching fodder but rediscovered as a  delicious, gourmet variety.

Kale is full of vitamins K, C, and B6, as well as manganese, copper, calcium, and magnesium. One cup of cooked kale contains 1000% more vitamin C than one cup of cooked spinach.

Plant with vining beans, peas, or cucumbers, which protect them from the summer heat.  Strawberries and roots like onions, radishes, carrots, and beets are friendly companions to leafy greens. Mix lots of flowers and herbs in the bed to ward off insects and attract beneficial ones. Most herbs work well with and compliment leafy greens.

Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
